History Mode is you experiencing important battles across Fire Emblem but each move you make is actually a Warriors scenario with a set of conditions. There are a few characters who feel like a shell of their former selves, though. The source material was mostly done justice. While the story mode is usually throwaway in these games, I quite like it here. As the mode progresses, you move from one game to another in terms of characters you meet.

Your story takes you into parallel dimensions meeting characters from other Fire Emblem games and a short series of battles follow leading them usually to join your army. The main story in Story Mode has you picking between Rowan or Lianna who are royal twins in the kingdom of Aytolis. I say this because a majority of the playable characters are from Fire Emblem Awakening and both Fates games. Also it is evident that this release has been made for fans who joined the series at Awakening which is a downer for old school fans. Since this is a musou game and a crossover one at that, expect the story to be mostly fan-service told through an original tale. In fact, that’s exactly what History Mode is.
Historic battles take place on battlefields and other locations so the best way to play this game is to picture actual Fire Emblem games taking place here.
I say this because the nature of Warriors or Musou games where there are tons of enemies on a vast battlefield fits perfectly in the Fire Emblem lore. It is also one that is worthy of the Fire Emblem name. Fire Emblem Warriors is not just a great Warriors game. Now, though, I have a new favourite – albeit one that is flawed in certain areas. While there have been loads of collaborations in the past to take various franchises and do Warriors releases, the one that impressed me the most is Dragon Quest Heroes II.

When I started playing Fire Emblem Warriors, I was happy that we finally have a portable Warriors experience that plays and looks great (for the most part). I quite enjoy playing Warriors games on the 3DS and Vita, but they haven’t been great conversions in most cases. The team has created a game with its signature Warriors style while doing the source IP in question justice. So if you’re excited to take to the battlefields in Fire Emblem Warriors, you have the option of paying for a potential future of greatness, or a very real now of art cards and sweet (fingers crossed) beats.Koei Tecmo has done it again. If you buy the game digitally you can opt for a deluxe edition which includes the Season Pass, and comes out as roughly the same price as this limited edition. There is no steel book to make it shine on your shelf, nor is there a reversible cover to really spice things up.
When you have to deal with such limited edition downgrades, you have to make the most of it all.Īnd finally we have the game. Dancing Panda suggests scribbling down random Top Trump stats on the back of each card and making a game of it all. Here instead we have art cards of all the characters featured within the game, which feels a little bare bones. Though it seems the inclusion of a complete soundtrack has lost us our miniature sample art book. One will end in answers, the other in tears. Hyrule Warriors managed to take beloved pieces of music from the Zelda series and grind it up into hideous MIDI rock and roll, but surely Fire Emblem’s gorgeous battle pieces haven’t met the same fate? Surely not? There are only two ways to find out take the game for a spin, or take the soundtrack on that two-hour drive. Here is the sample… wait, no, it’s not a sample soundtrack! The 3 disc collection included here is a complete collection of tunes from the game, something perfect for long car journeys with family, friends and especially your dearest partner in life. Shows us the innards of this cardboard box, Dancing Panda! She was a huge fan of Hyrule Warriors, so is super stoked to murder millions more with the cast from Nintendo’s hit strategy RPG.
